Ubisoft Pulls the Plug on Rainbow Six Mobile

par Zaibatsu8 octobre 2026Aller aux commentaires

Ubisoft has officially announced the closure of its tactical handheld shooter, Rainbow Six Mobile. Shared via a statement on social media, the decision comes shortly after the game’s official global debut on February 23, 2026.

The title spent nearly three years in active development, navigating multiple alpha tests, closed betas, and a soft launch phase. While active development is drawing to a close, players won't be disconnected immediately. Ubisoft has confirmed that game servers will remain operational until January 15, 2027.

Additionally, they also confirmed that the upcoming content season will proceed as scheduled next week.

Translating Siege Mechanics to Mobile Devices

The mobile adaptation was designed to recreate the tense 5v5 tactical combat of Rainbow Six Siege. It featured customizable touchscreen controls, destructible environments, and a lineup of original Operators.

Throughout a development journey featuring 15 seasons and a brief hiatus in 2024, the game brought classic maps like Bank, Border, Oregon, and Clubhouse to mobile devices. It also introduced new maps to the lineup, such as Summit.

In their farewell message, the development team thanked the passionate community for their dedication, highlights, and feedback throughout the game's run.

Pivoting Teams to Strategic Initiatives

With the sunset process underway, Ubisoft confirmed that the Rainbow Six Mobile development team will be reassigned to other long-term strategic projects across the company. Further details regarding player accounts and transition plans will be shared in subsequent updates over the coming weeks.

Although the news marks an abrupt end for mobile FPS fans who anticipated a multi-year competitive scene, the title stands out for its ambitious effort to bring full-scale tactical destruction to smartphones.
