Dplus Kia Claims APL North Stage 2 Title Amid Import Controversy

by ZaibatsuOctober 24, 2026Go to comments

Dplus Kia secured their spot at the upcoming BLAST R6 Major Osaka after defeating Japanese squad CAG by VARREL in the APL North 2026 - Stage 2 Grand Final. With this grand final victory, Dplus Kia became the final team to qualify for the Osaka Major.

A Thrilling Grand Final Finish

The Grand Final showdown was a hard-fought series where Dplus earned a 2-0 match victory. Dplus Kia opened the series with a convincing 7-3 victory on Chalet, spearheaded by strong individual performances.

Despite CAG’s heroic comeback attempt, Dplus Kia held their composure in overtime to claim an 8-7 victory on Fortress.

On the second map, Fortress, Dplus built an early 6-1 lead and appeared poised for a swift finish. However, CAG demonstrated incredible resilience, fighting back from a 0-5 deficit to level the score at 7-7 and push the map into overtime.

Newly added player Yuri was awarded the APL 2026 Stage 2 MVP honor for his stellar performance throughout the final.

Absence of a Local Team

Dplus Kia’s qualification marks a significant milestone, as they locked in the final slot for the Major. However, this outcome delivered a crushing blow to the Japanese Rainbow Six Siege community.

Because CAG by VARREL fell short in the finals, no Japanese team will participate in the BLAST R6 Major Osaka. It marks a painful outcome for local fans who had hoped to cheer on a domestic Japanese team at their home Major.

Community Backlash Over Brazilian Import Roster

The championship win ignited immediate controversy across social media due to Dplus Kia’s roster composition. Although representing the South Korean organization Dplus Kia in APAC North, the team’s active roster consists entirely of five Brazilian players.

Fans and community commentators voiced intense frustration on X, raising concerns over regional integrity and questioning Ubisoft’s import regulations.

Japanese fans expressed disappointment that a fully Brazilian roster eliminated local talent, while others called for stricter import rules to protect smaller competitive regions.
